A Motorola Authorized Two-Way Radio DealerBig Sandy Two-Way Communications was incorporated in May of 1982 and since that time has been an authorized Motorola Service facility, handling all Motorola warranty service and contract service, as well as servicing a substantial number of customers on a time and material basis. We have been designated a Motorola Full-Line Two-Way Dealership and cover 19 counties in Kentucky and West Virginia.
Johnny Dutton was employed as the sole radio technician for the Industrial Water Board in Birmingham, Alabama for nine years prior to moving to Kentucky to purchase this facility. He was actively involved in the service of customers' equipment until 2001. Since that time, it has become necessary for him to serve in other capacities. Johnny has an FCC license.
The facility is managed by Lane Dutton, who for 19 years was a legal secretary. She handles all administrative aspects of the shop. She will be able to handle any problem that may arise in a timely matter.
Eddie Ratliff, service manager, has been with BSTW since March of 1991. Eddie has been employed locally as a radio technician and installer for more than 27 years. He is experienced with many brands of two-way radios. He is a much respected radio service provider in our area and is a CET certified technician.
BSTW also boasts two other CET certified technicians: Carl Smith and Gary Osborne who joined the team in July 2006.
Jason Howard and Daniel Mullins are the company's tower climbers and radio installers.
Each technician has his own four-wheel drive vehicle and his own test equipment. Each is equipped with a generator and other tools to install equipment or do repair work in the field. A notebook computer is also available to each technician for field programming. Technicians are radio and cell phone dispatched and can be re-routed in most cases.
Our facility keeps a large stock of Motorola radios, both VHF, UHF, and lowband, and also a large stock of Motorola parts, including mobile and portable accessories such as antennas, batteries, cases, and more. BSTW services all brands of radios. We also carry cellular accessories such as car kits and amps to fit most Motorola and Blackberry phones as well as the Apple iPhone. If we have a problem with any radio, we know how to find the answer. In addition, we carry a line of family radios which can be used by hunters, fishermen, and families to keep in touch with each other on vacation or at play. We also provide assistance in applying for FCC licenses.
